How the INI-CET Rank Predictor Estimates Your Rank

What the estimate is built from

For each session, the predictor uses only information taken from official documents and verified:

• Published score–rank reference points: pairs of a score and the rank it corresponded to.
• What the score means (raw marks, percentile or a normalised score), so your score is compared with the same kind of number.
• The marking scheme, only if you calculate your score from your correct and incorrect answers. That option is available only when every part of the scheme has been verified.

Nothing is carried over from another session, and no value is assumed.

How a score becomes a rank range

• Exactly on a published point: the published rank is shown.
• Between two published points: the rank is estimated by straight-line interpolation between them, and the range shown is the two published ranks on either side.
• Above the highest or below the lowest published point: only a bound is shown (for example “better than” the best published rank), because there is no data beyond it.

When no estimate is given

The predictor refuses to estimate, and explains why, when:

• no verified score–rank points exist for the session, or fewer than 3 have been published;
• it is not verified what kind of score the published points use;
• the two published points around your score are more than 15% of the maximum score apart, so a straight line between them would not be reliable;
• published sources for the session conflict.

Reading your result

The result shows the estimated rank, the range, the published points nearest to your score and the limitations that apply. It is an estimate based on a past session's published data, not a prediction of your official rank, which only the official result gives.

Your score stays on your device

The Rank Predictor runs in your browser. Your score is kept in the part of the page address after the “#”, which browsers do not send to any server, so it is never stored by this site.
